Craig Feringa graduated with honors from Detroit College of Law and became a member of the Michigan bar in 1994. Prior to law school he attended Calvin College and Harvard University (Extension Program) where he studied humpback whales on a 1905 barkentine converted for marine biology research. He graduated from University of Detroit with a BSN degree. Mr. Feringa maintains his Registered Nursing license, but now focuses his professional efforts on the law.
Mr. Feringa began his legal career at one of Michigan’s largest and most respected personal injury law firms. There he began as a legal clerk, and was hired as an associate where he practiced family law, medical malpractice and other personal injury law.
In 1999, Mr. Feringa began his own firm where he focuses primarily on many of the legal issues that affect Michigan families including divorce, child custody, parenting time, child support, probate law and juvenile law (abuse, neglect and delinquency).
Mr. Feringa also assists clients with personal injury matters. He will provide a free and complete discussion about your potential case. Each case is different and there are many good attorneys and law firms in Michigan who focus on specific types of cases. For instance, there are attorneys who focus on difficult automobile crash cases, or those who focus on brain injuries, or injuries sustained at birth. Mr. Feringa is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Macomb County Bar Association, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and the Wayne County Family Law Bar Association.
Mr. Feringa is actively involved in the State Bar of Michigan’s Family Law Section, and the Macomb County Bar Association where he has been chair or co-chair of the Domestic Relations Committee for several years.. He is a frequent contributor on the Family Law Section’s internet listserve. He actively participates in continuing education programs. Mr. Feringa has presented educational programs on evaluating, understanding and summarizing medical records. He has also presented programs on domestic violence and negligence law to nurses at area hospitals.
Personal: Craig lives with his wife and three kids. When he takes time away from the practice of law, his enjoys woodworking, making his own lumber from logs, biking, yard-work, and playing with the kids.
